Produced mainly in Staffordshire, these earthenware figures were in the main cheaply produced for the working class. In many repects they themselfs chart English Social history as well as represent possibly the last henuine folk art to be produced on an industrial scale.First produced at the end of the 18th Century in Pearlware production continued throughout the 19th century with portrait figures charting the people and events of the time. |
