Large LION GROUP c.1800

£950

  Large LION GROUP c.1800 £950
A wonderful and rare late 18th or very early 19th Century pearlware figure of a lion. Probably Staffordshire. His front paw on a globe although interestingly the islands illustrated do not conform to the earth. The whole on a fo-marble base. I must say the painted detail on this is as good as any thing I have seen in Staffordshire figures.

The base measures 26 x 12 cm and the whole stands 22 cm tall.

Condition. He would appear to have been off his base at some time, and very well restored, probably at the same time his tail appears to have been broken into three or four pieces again well restored.
