I wish we had these for inclusion in the catalogue. A true darning sampler of the Dutch tradition worked in coloured threads in traditional patterns and forms including the cross. In no way can the work be compared with that produced by girls 100 years earlier.
Other work that came with this was signed Winifred Clifford and dated 1908 again following the tradition of not signing their darning sampler.
Winifred is belived to have been born 1899, Battersea London. Parents Henry William ans Ada Maude Naylor.
