The earthenware body on these doves has a good blue tint, so a pearlware and therefore dating early 1840s. Decorated in overglaze enamels the bird is realisticly coloured. The painting of the feathers , eye, etc so much better than later Staffordshire figures. The base moulded as a nest.
Length 8 1/2; 21.5cm. Height 5 1/2 inch, 14cm.
Condition, perfect. No restoration. very minor flaking to enamels. |
