One of the great joys of Scottish samplers it that they tell us so much family information.
Catherine Leishman sewed this sampler Dec.1831. She highlights her mothers name Catherine Dechmont in black letting us know she had died, and her fathers details William & her stepmothers name Euphemia Wink .(both having three children).
Born 1818 Glasgow Barony Lanarkshire Scotland she married Robert Alston in 1846. They had six children including Robert, a watchmaker that emigrated to Australia. She died aged 72 in 1892.
