A REGENCY NEEDLEWORK SCHOOL SAMPLERBY EMILY BAKERworked with blue silk floss on linen ground, with alphabets, numerals, and a verse, signed and dated 'Emily Baker Chelmsford School 1818'.
in a later glazed ebonised frame 29.3 x 29.
The Chelmsford Quaker house was first established in 1656 with the "church " undergoing a number of rebuilds, the large brick built meeting house on Baddow Road, where this sampler was stitched was built in1791 and replaced for a larger site in 1824.
