Really interesting image on this Childs plate , att.to Clews circa 1820 "HE RETURNS" The Holidays past the school once more, receives the student as before; To perfect in Scholastic-lore The School Boy.
The boy being greeted by the elderly mistress with his colored man servant carrying his bags.
I find it interesting that some 30years since the freedom of the slave, the image of a coloured man servant was still acceptable .
Small rim chip at 5 oclock.
