  ELEANOR TACCHI , 1843 !. £SOLD
I have often wondered at what age a girl removes the date on her sampler and why, to hide a year or two, but in this case possibly 10.
Eleanor Tacchi was born in 1829 , and was probably 14(possibly 8) when she completed her sampler . The youngest child (of 10) to Antonio (Anthony) Tacchi, a carver and gilder from Como in Italy who came to England and settled in Bedford (High Street) having married Ann Butcher in 1811. It would appear, as in so many family's the youngest daughter stayed at home to look after her aging parents, who both died in early 1868. Eleanor died in Tetbury in 1897.
