A rare and unusual 18th century Norfolk School Darning sampler with a central verse/ The Ten Commandments.
Each corner having a different square of darning pattern five more darning crosses. Unusually for darning sampler are the five bouquets of flowers.
Signed ELIZABETH FAIRCLOTH and dated May the 24 1773.
Elizabeth was born in 1762 and Baptised 30.3.1762 in Wells Norfolk , the daughter of John & Elizabeth Farmers of Wells. |
