RECLINING SHEEP GROUP, STAFFORDSHIRE c.1760 |
£450 |
May be its because I'm a Shepherd but I have always liked Sheep groups. This model is particularly interesting, copied from the Chelsea porcelain, it is known in white & coloured saltglaze and one of the few figures in tinglaze. The main body is press moulded with the extremities legs tail, ears, and flowers added. Solid base with vent hole.
The ears appear to be restorded.
Lit. Sampson & horn Cat 02/15 for an identical figure.
Staffordshire circa 1760. |
