This historic sampler is illustrated in the landmark book published by Marcus Huish in 1913, pl.22 having come from his collection. Previously in The Fine Art Society's collection of old needlework.
Make much of precious time while in your power. Be careful well to husband every hour. For time will come when you shall rore lament,The unhappy minutes that you have mis-pent. July 23 ended my work..
Worked in very fine green silk note the vowels, rare at this time, the use of an f instead of an s and no J in the alphabet.
