FOREMARK DERBYSHIRE THE SEAT of Sir F.BURDETT

£120

FOREMARK DERBYSHIRE THE SEAT of Sir F.BURDETT £120
Very rare Staffordshire pearlware soup bowl commemorating Sir Frank BURDETT. The Blue transfer print showing his country House FOREMARK in DERBYSHIRE. Interesting back samp to plate.

Sir Frances BURDETT BART was in 1810 arrested for contempt of the House and lodged in the Tower of London . "For firmly & dissinteretedly asserting the legal rights of the British People". A number of commemoratives were produced to commemorate the event. Addirtional interest in him came in 1832 with the Reform Bill. I belive this plate one of a service was probably produced at this time.

I have only seen one other of these plates in over 30 years,

9 3/4 inches in diameter.

Condition small rim chip to edge at 4. 0'clock.
