PRATT WATE COTTAGE MONEY BOX

£SOLD

PRATT WATE COTTAGE MONEY BOX £SOLD
A rare and unusually small early 19th Century childs money box in the form of a cottage. Moulded decoration and decorated in high temperature Pratt ware colours. I dont think I have ever seen a bank this small being only 2 1/2 inches across the bottom and high.

Probably made in either Staffordshire or Yorkshire and in the early years of the 19th Century, say circa 1810-20. The glaze has wonderful deep blue colour to it, this high lights the brickwork.

Condition great, some ware to edges in particular to the two chimneys which are now a little rounded off but not chipped. No cracks or restoration. There is some roughness to the green grass around the base, this is ware the glaze has not taken or wiped off before firing.

This would have only taken small coins, possibly silver 3d\\\\\\\'s pieces.
